Another Earthquake in Haiti

At 6:03 am this morning there was yet another earthquake in Haiti. This one was 6.1 on the richter scale. It was about 35 miles northwest of haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince. Haiti is not even close to recovering from the initial 7.2 magnitude quake and only a few days later there is another devastating earthquake.

There has been a lot of aftershocks since the initial earthquake but this is the most devastating one. The people who live there and they people who have gone their to help with relief are not even able to live in buildings due to the aftershocks.

There are currently 11,000 US troops in Haiti aiding in relief and there are more than 5,500 Americans that were in the area that are unaccounted for since the initial earthquake.

So far the US has raised over $210 million dollars to aid in rebuilding. If you would like to donate, you can donate to the red cross by texting “HAITI” to 90999 or through the American Red Cross Website.
